    ABOUT PATANG
A poetic journey to the old city of Ahmedabad, PATANG weaves together the stories of six people transformed by the energy of India's largest kite festival. Every year a million kites fill the skies above Ahmedabad-dueling, soaring, tumbling and flying high. When a successful Delhi businessman takes his daughter on a surprise trip back to his childhood home for the festival, an entire family has to confront its own fractured past and fragile dreams. With naturalistic performances from actors and non-actors alike, bold, lyrical editing, vibrant cinematography and a kinetic score, Patang delights the senses and nourishes the spirit.

PATANG, a feature film by Prashant Bhargava, is in theaters. PATANG celebrated its world premiere at the BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL and its North American premiere in competition at the TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL. Showcased at over 30 film festivals to sold out audiences - including the CHICAGO INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL OF LOS ANGELES, MILL VALLEY INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, VANCOUVER FILM FESTIVAL and ROGER EBERT’S FILM FESTIVAL. Winner of the Best Feature Narrative at the HAWAII INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, Best World Narrative at the INDY FILM FESTIVAL, Special Jury Award at the OSIANS FILM FESTIVAL in New Delhi, and the Best Feature Narrative at the DC APA FILM FESTIVAL, Best Film and Best Director at the SAIFF Rising Star Awards.

4 STARS - "Hypnotically beautiful visuals ...woven into a kaleidoscope of colors, faces, music and a little romance... Bhargava is MASTERFUL." -Roger Ebert, CHICAGO SUNTIMES - http://bit.ly/KG4gf8

NEW YORK TIMES CRITICS PICK - "Prashant Bhargava’s first feature, has a lovely, unforced quality." - Rachel Saltz, NEW YORK TIMES - nyti.ms/KqRyEc

"Terrific Performances by Nawazuddin Siddiqui & Seema Biswas" - Rajeev Masand, CNN

"UPLIFTING... COLORFULLY VIVID - Reminiscent of Wong Kai Wai" - Robert Abel, LOS ANGELES TIMES - lat.ms/MLg3cb

"VISUALLY POETIC... There are few things more difficult to pull off than elegant visual poetry. The line between pretension and artful provocation is a thin one indeed, and any director that attempts to construct a metaphorical mosaic runs the risk of looking foolish. Yet cinema would sure be a dull medium without artists that aimed for the stars, and that is precisely what Prashant Bhargava does in his debut feature, PATANG (The Kite)... This is the sort of gorgeously photographed picture that practically begs to be seen on the biggest screen possible. It stands as a reminder of what truly absorbs a viewer into a film... Warrants comparison to the work of cinema’s great poet, Terence Malick." - Matt Fagerholm, HOLLYWOOD CHICAGO - http://bit.ly/LpRWk6

"The storytelling is effortlessly made part of the hypnotically beautiful visuals, and woven into a kaleidoscope of colors, faces, music and a little romance... Bhargava is Masterful"

NEW YORK TIMES CRITIC'S PICK - Rachel Saltz
"Prashant Bhargava’s first feature, has a lovely, unforced quality...Themes appear about wealth in the new India, family responsibility, old ways versus modern ones. They seem fresh here. So does PATANG."

    YAHOO MOVIES - Jonathon Crow
    "A stunning, joyous visual portrait...Gorgeous."

GRADE: A- CHRISTIAN SCIENCE MONITOR - Peter Rainer
"[Bhargava] allows us to discover these people in mostly glancing, sidelong moments, as if he were capturing their lives on the sly. It’s rare for a filmmaker to integrate with such seamlessness the staged and the 'caught.'... When a character says, “You fly these kites and feel the joy,” we know just what he means."

INDIA ABROAD - Arthur J. Pais,
"PATANG is a visually stunning film... Bhargava handles the subject in a quiet gentle way, but shows the tension with his hand held camera and quick edit cuts. Biswas is fantastic as the central figure in the film and truly standsout as the moral compass of the story."

    HOLLYWOOD CHICAGO -Matt Fagerholm
"There are few things more difficult to pull off than elegant visual poetry. Yet cinema would sure be a dull medium without artists that aimed for the stars, and that is precisely what Prashant Bhargava does in his debut feature, PATANG (The Kite)."
