Kobus & Celeste phoned me up a few months ago after they saw Leendert & Amy's Couples in Motion (now "swee.motion"). They adored the concept and wanted to do the same. After our Skype meeting it was clear that we had to pull out all stops with this vibrant and trendy couple. Our theme was travel (which ended up slotting in nicely with their wedding theme) and we had two days within which to get around Cape Town as much as possible.
This was one of the funnest shoots I've ever been on. We had two people that were willing to do the craziest things and really step outside their comfort zone. Especially the stuff we shot on the chairs in front of the Strijdom van der Merwe installation ("Falling Sticks"). We are pretty happy with the result. :)
Their wedding is coming up in March 2013 (which we'll also be filming). Keep an eye out!
If you're a 7de Laan or Boer Soek 'n Vrou fan you will immediately recognise the fairer half of the duo that is the subject of our latest Couples in Motion video. It's SA celebrity Angelique Gerber and her (now) husband Ben-G van Niekerk who exchanged their vows at Vrede & Lust wine estate over the weekend. We also had the privilege of filming their grand celebration (the product of which we are forging with perspiring fervour; out by next Tuesday) which was an event worthy of royalty... but more on that soon!
The shoot took place over two days and at about eight locations around Stellenbosch and Gordon's Bay. When you have subjects with spontaneity and gorgeous good-looks like Ben-G and Angelique (and Bessie*), you tend to over shoot... they just keep giving you great little moments. So we ended up with four hours of footage which needed to be condensed into three-and-a-bit minutes. The cut selection process was tough.
Anyway, here you have it. The song is Everybody by Ingrid Michaelson.
Leendert & Amy from Stellenbosch, winners of the second annual swee.MOTION competition, took Sweefilm to Natures Valley (on the cusp of the Western and Eastern Cape) to film their much anticipated engagement video. In terms of location, it was worth the commute in every way; absolute breathtaking surrounds.
After much deliberation, we settled on the upbeat and ultra-funky "Say Hey" (Michael Franti & Spearhead) and it soon turned out that we could not have matched them to a better song. Their infectious energy and playfulness simply sizzles on-screen. After seeing it, a friend asked, "Is this really their first time in front of a camera?" Indeed it was, and yes, they really are just that incredibly comfortable and effortless to direct.
This was one of our favourite shoots and I think it shows!
Leendert and Amy is getting married on the 13th of October 2012. They've already signed up to have us film their winelands wedding. And this is certain: we can't wait!
