1. Thanks to my friend Rocky, I've got the white balance on my D90 figured out. Looking better.

A 2006 Bordeaux from the Right Bank - a St-Émilion Grand Cru, which I bought as futures. Just received this last month, so I wanted to pull a bottle and have a taste.

A modern wine in every way, from the same owners as Pipeau. Deep and concentrated, but with the phenolic ripeness and freshness of 2005. Oak is a bit clunky, but we are judging far too prematurely.

  2. First off, apologies for the shirt. Not trying to look like a gigolo, just unexpectedly unbuttoned.

Moschofilero is a grape variety indigenous to Greece, grown mainly on the Peloponnesian islands in the region of Mantinia. I've only recently discovered how high the quality of Greek white wines are, and I was very pleasantly surprised by this bottle. More about this wine, at:

  3. A Niagara pinot noir, from a difficult vintage. The finest pinot noir that I've ever tasted from this producer. Expressive and seductive, with all the traits you want from a pinot. Absolutely delicious, with a finish that lingers into the morning.

  5. This wine is from the blockbuster 2005 vintage of Bordeaux, from the Right Bank appellation of Côtes de Castillon. A bit early to drink now, but this wine shows very well. More, at:
