Before crowds, before surfboards were used as props to sell cars and blood pressure medication, before CD's and computers and before Steve got his driver's license, in 1967 he and his friends started Pipeline East Surf Club, in Long Island, New York. They surfed Westhampton Beach filmed in S8, in a chilly spring in 1967. As we watched the original footage, Steve narrates surfing without leashes, in inadequate wetsuits and having a blast!
Screened at the New York Surf Film Festival, 2010. Have fun!
House on the Beach was an original script shot on 16mm film in 1996. Except for a scene shot at Rockaway beach, all locations were on Ludlow St. and other locations in the Lower East Side, NYC back when the neighborhood still retained it's ragged feel. Our transportation was via my 1990 Honda Civic - low budget stuff indeed, but the cast and crew were terrific and fun. The film was never hot spliced, so splicing tape is visible. Oh well, still fun to watch.
