This slapstick video is a spoof on my most recent video production "Rhythms of the Heart". I met Victor IV, AKA Bulgar Finn, in 1977. This Eccentric artist was living on a houseboat on the Amstel River in Amsterdam. He is now buried nearby at the Zorgvlied cemetery, which is located right by Victor's beloved Amstel River.
My Daughter Courtney Van Rij, who lives in Holland recently took me to Victor's gravesite, where we drank to his life and art. We felt his spirit laughing with us. RIP Victor IV.
Rhythms of the Heart is a tribute to Amsterdam collage artist Victor IV A.K.A. Bulgar Finn. It describes his individuality and eccentric way of life and the impact he had on San Francisco artist Murai. They met in Amsterdam 1977, following one of his art exhibits. Their friendship grew as they corresponded via mail. Though Victor has passed, Murai wishes to keep Victor IV's memory alive with this heartfelt acknowledgment of his free spirited life, and her desire to emulate him and his talent of embracing life as an art form. Murai's big heart and free spirit shines in her film salute to Bulgar Finn.
