I'd kite more often, but it is a rare occasion in Umeå when the wind gets above 4m/s. Saturday called for 5m/s out of the NorthWest, so I headed out to the frozen lake, Nydalasjön. There on the east side of the lake I kited for 3 hours, capturing the first 30 minutes on film. At first I'm kiting too close to the trees afraid of the ice thickness. Gusts caught me off guard. I was rusty after 4 months without touching my wing! The ice was actually fine, so I eventually moved away from the trees.
Paragliding on July 10th above the lovely town of Pemberton, British Columbia. This is the 'out' leg of my flight to Copper Dome and back. I flew over the spot where Judd died the day before. Judd was a great guy and he'll be a sorely missed by pilots from Pemberton and beyond. Stay safe! Music is an abridged version of 'Quiet' by the band 'This is going to kill you'.
Early June 2014 brought epic conditions in the Pinzgau valley, and Stubernkögel was the ideal launching area for big triangles. Alex Raymont hooked up with Markus Eder, leading Austrian XC rankings, to do a 200km triangle. I am a relative novice happy to just make it out the Pass Thurn and back. I really enjoyed flying with all of the different types of aircraft, even swallows at 3000m hunting insects swept up in the strong thermals.
