Contribution & Technique: As the Editor on this project, I combined interview, rehearsal and onstage footage to create a visually engaging, first-person, short-documentary. Steps included logging all footage, creating an assembly and audio edit, selecting music clips and background audio, tightly editing dance footage from two angles, creating the rough cut through to final cut, formatting titles and credits, approving all materials and formatting the final video in various sizes and codecs for distribution.
Goals: To create a short-documentary about Nijinsky for distribution in online marketing and publicity materials that creates awareness of the show and interest in attending the performances. To show the relationship between choreographer and dancer in rehearsal and intrigue viewers with personal accounts, the dancer's talent and samples of the show on stage.
Result: A personal revelation on the symbiosis between choreographer and dancer, specifically in the decision to cast a young Corps de Ballet member in the lead role.
