This is a pitch trailer for a documentary on the history of the Mattawa waterway as told by the river. The documentary follows a modern day canoeist as he races in one of the most difficult races on the canoe racing circuit, the Mighty Mattawa River. As he races closer to the finish line he witnesses the historical tales that the river has to tell, reliving what explorers, voyager and settlers experienced on their journey. Ric Potvin - Producer, DP and Editor.
Last summer the Near North Chapter of Trout Unlimited Canada started the restoration of Doran creek after a catastrophic release of fine sediment. This film documents stage one of the on going project. I spent a day with the TUC group filming them as they start stage one of the clean up. Ric Potvin - Producer, DP, and Editor.
This pitch trailer was created to promote the feature length script of the same name. I was the DP, and Editor. It was shot over two days in Northern Ontario during a -40 cold snap. No, we didn't plan it like that. The entire two day shoot cost out at under a hundred dollars. Everyone ( crew and actors) deferred payment and the money went towards Craft Services. Most of the scenes where storyboarded, except the horses, while I was setting up for the cowboy fixing the fence shot, all the horses started galloping due to the extreme cold, I noticed this and just started rolling tape, a serendipitous moment shawn on us and we where able to capture some remarkable footage.
