I have always considered the cable car that connects the town of Castellammare to Mount Faito a place in its own right, not simply a means of transport. Seen from above, the metropolitan area of the province of Naples seems to stop, the chaotic sounds, the speed of the streets, the aggressiveness of the people fall silent in few seconds. Time slows down. Everything becomes landscape, colors, lights, shadows. Thus, in 8 minutes, you can look inside and (re)discover love, even for that territory.
Air is the habitat of the cable car suspended between land and sea, the stories of the passengers its memories. Inside, there's a silent guardian, the conductor.
I think these feelings, remained unchanged during a lifetime, belong to all those who, with their faces pressed to the window, saw in the distance the sleeping Vesuvius which stands on that side of the Gulf of Naples.
It's all here the soul of the story that is the subject in the film.
