In this video, we look at one of the ways to do a higher end beauty edit ensuring pore and texture detail is kept to a maximum. No plugins here.
The full edit took 2 hours. This is a 9 min version with some brief notes and a kick ass soundtrack. Everything you see is captured on screen. We used Adobe Photoshop CS4 & a Wacom i5 to create this edit.
The shoot was for the L’Oreal colour trophy among a few other things. Shooting in such a confined locations did mean some interesting lighting settings and also meant being portable. We used a low power strobe as a main light and mixed that with a SB910 speedlight modified with an Orbis ring flash. As the element colour was of great importance, we used the Sigma SD1 camera and the razor sharp 105mm lens. The Sigma is an interesting camera but really is a suburb camera in a controlled environment such as this.
