  2. This is a simple test to show how the Anamorphic (Blue Streak) filters handle the way light hits it. There are two sources hitting the filter, to give people a idea of what the source will give them. Top source is a reflection source of a 650w with some color. Bottom source is a small maglite, like they used in star trek.

  3. This set of moving stills is a small example of how different Tiffen warm FX colour filters affect the mood of the same scene. Preferential choice of density and stop exposure for any FX colour filter is that of the DOP's.

  4. This ARRI Alexa test was shot under Tungsten lighting conditions. We have used standard Tiffen & Schneider ND's and also combined them with the Tiffen's T1/2 & T1 filters to see if this has any affect. We have also tested Tiffen's Full Spectrum IRNDs plus the Schneider Platinum ND s, that have also been designed for use on CMOS sensors.
If you would like to see similar tests under HMI lighting conditions please review on our channel Camera Filters.

  5. Another test of Sanity 5 but adding the Pasedena Pulse Audio options as well. Also wanted to compare four different Tiffen FX filters so the footage was shot as follows:

    GH2 with 14-42 Kits Lens
Rode VideoMic directly into camera via 10' extension and 3.5 to 2.5 adapter
    ISO 800
    F 3.8
    Auto White Balance
AGC set at Level 1 (using Pasedena Pulse Audio patch)

The audio definitely sounds better to me than the stock firmware at level 1. I had the Rode mic about 18" above me and in hindsight, I probably could have used level 2 because the meters never showed any clipping at all, so I was probably a little low.

The Tiffen filters have been laying around for a few years, and I've played with the Black Promist before on the 20mm 1.7 pancake to soften it up. I had never used any of the others and now I'm glad I did. The Soft FX filter actually looked pretty nice as well, not what I expected.

    The four filters were:

    Black Promist 1/2
    Black Diffusion FX 1/2
    Warm Black Diffusion 1/4
    Soft Fx 1

The footage is straight out of the camera with no post processing as I wanted to really see the effects of the filters on ungraded footage. The Black Promist does really soften the footage the most and it also looks like it reduces the contrast (if that's even possible)

I may try to grade this with ColorGhear to see how well the footage holds up with the filter effects.

Please let me know what you think of the the filter footage and if anyone has any suggestions on how best to use them I would really appreciate it.

The footage was edited in Premiere Pro CS5 and this is the first time that I've rendered in 1080p. I wanted to see how much of a difference it would make on my 60 inch Samsung DLP and I was amazed at how much clearer it looked than the 720p I had been rendering before. I also used slightly different render settings and I think that it really improved the final output quite a bit.

    Thanks for taking a look.
