1. In the first segment we plant 4 more squares of corn and okra. Our Okra seed variety is Roberie, from Baker Creek. We also plant more squares of snap beans, lima beans, radish, cucumber, and melons. Our transplants have done well this week, the seeds we planted didn't make much progress this week, but I continue to thin the sprouts when they reach about 1 inch high, to insure I have one plant and not 3 growing in one hole. I also mention the compost tumbler my son and I are making this weekend, we hope the video will be finished sometime next week.
2. Our second segment we transplant a tomato plant into a 5 gallon bucket. A family member gave us a few tomato plants that are bush (determinate) variety, which take too much space in a square foot garden, so I decided to plant in five gallon buckets I had around the house. I attach a wire cage made for tomatoes on the outer walls of the bucket to support the tomato as it grows. It's very strong and I believe will work well if Myles will quit pulling the plants out.
