Seniors Taylor Beakley and Megan Graham created this short documentary film about the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts. The film was shown during the Open Book Celebration featuring keynote speaker Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, which was held at the William J. Clinton Presidential Center on April 25, 2013.
NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was the keynote speaker for the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts' Open Book Celebration. On the morning of April 25, Abdul-Jabbar spoke to a group of ninth-graders from Garland County and ASMSA's students about the importance of STEM education during an assembly at Hot Springs High School.
The Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts holds monthly Science and Engineering Institutes for sixth- through 10th-graders. The institutes offer students the opportunity to participate in three science- and math-based classes led by ASMSA instructors. The classes are free for the students, and the 2012-13 institutes were sponsored by The Ross Foundation in Arkadelphia.
