Despite the economic downturn, Los Angeles continues to be a major economic engine for the state of California and the United States. This city has many lessons for Seattle and Puget Sound region. Join a senior-level delegation of regional business, government and civic leaders on the 2013 Seattle Study Mission.
For over 25 years, the Seattle Chamber and the City of Seattle have partnered on an annual visit to a North American city to challenge traditional thinking, benchmark our region, learn best practices, form deeper connections and develop leadership approaches to solving our toughest challenges. After learning from dozens of innovative cities on this successful study mission program, trip participants urged us to do something similar in Seattle.
Our objective is to present the strengths of our city that visitors routinely recognize, but that we might not notice in our own backyard. We plan to take delegates 'backstage' to limited-access places and to the hidden gems of our region. Specifically, we'll explore how we can better nurture our employment base, cultivate emerging sectors, invest in education and the workforce, and continue the 'common ground' relationship building that began at the 2010 Regional Leadership Conference.
