  3. freedombikerental.com/ The goal of this tour is to bring you to places that are far-far off the beaten path. We'll be riding a combination of dirt and paved roads, but a majority of the tour is far away from paved roads. The goal is not to challenge you with highly technical offroading skills, but rather to take you to places that few people ever see and experience. You can only get to these places by leaving the pavement and, sometimes, the roads altogether. During this unforgettable tour we will leave the road completely behind when we load the motorcycles into a motorized canoe and float down the Napo River, deep in the Amazon River basin, through communities that are only accessible by this type of river canoe. This is also a ride high into the Andes; into small, isolated villages that time has forgotten, where farming is still done with the help of animals and the pace of life is to a very different rhythm from the rest of the world. We will not lack for comfort, however, staying in top-notch hotels, haciendas and lodges along the way with amazing meals, hot water and comfortable beds. This tour is for intermediate to advanced level riders. Endurance and stamina are required for portions of this trip particularly when we travel through the very remotest areas of Ecuador.

  5. freedombikerental.com/ For many, motorcycling is the ideal way to explore a new country. No other means of transportation can get you so deeply immersed into the landscapes, the wildlife, and the local culture. Adventure riding on a motorcycle profoundly connects you with your surroundings - the aromas, local color, vistas, road surfaces and weather can't be ignored. This total enthrallment and connection is what many bikers crave.
Motorcyclists have recently become intrigued by Ecuador. It’s a nation with a rich cultural history, having been one of the first Latin American nations to win independence from Spain, and a place where traditions and customs dating back to the pre-Colombian era are still practiced with reverence in agrarian villages and remote mountain hamlets. Three distinct regions or “worlds” are connected by one of the continent's most modern highway system. Ecuador provides some of the most unforgettable motorcycle riding in the world.

When we ride into a small Andean village on market day, for example, we become part of the scene. We mingle directly with the villagers instead of passively looking through a car window. We are right there with them - outside - where interaction happens with a smile, a question, a comment--and the sense of connection and belongingness settles in.

Throughout our motorcycle tours, we take great joy in introducing our riders to the Ecuadorian villages and friends we have become acquainted with over the years and to watch as they discover the unique charms and peronality of each. We meet people from many different walks of life – from artisanal brick-makers, to moonshine distillers, to fishermen, to subsistence farmers high in the Andes. It's the people that we meet on each ride that sets it apart. They are gentle and kind and family life is of utmost importance – it is common to see three generations together – children, parents and grandchildren. Children are cherished and education is a high priority. Pack for a Purpose helps us make even more connections with the children in the communities we visit. [photo B]

Pack for a Purpose has now transformed each and every one of our motorcycle tours into a “Ride for a Purpose.“ It gives all of our riders the opportunity to give back to the communities that make our motorcycle tours so special. We bring school supplies to kids and teachers who are in desperate need.

Although Ecuador's public school system is free to all children, and recent educational reforms have increased school funds, the cost of school supplies and uniforms must be paid for by parents. For many children in the impoverished rural, isolated communities that we ride through, education may be sacrificed when parents cannot afford these necessities. Since starting with Pack for a Purpose in August, our customers have brought in over 58 kilograms of school supplies. The participation and support has already begun to make a big impact!

When Ecuador Freedom Bike Rental discovered Pack for a Purpose, we knew it was a perfect combination and an exciting way for us to make direct and meaningful contributions to our favorite communiites and villages. And what a great time it is for everyone involved!

Many of the schools we visit along our tours are located on dirt roads that are hours away from paved roads and cellular phone signals. The schools are simple, one or two- room schools handling up to 60 kids aged 6-13. They can only be reached by off-road capable 4X4 vehicles or with dual-sport motorcycles. In these parts of the country, visitors are extremely rare.

When we rumble into a school yard riding nine or ten late model adventure-ready motorcycles, the children look up from their desks in astonishment! They can barely contain their excitement when we walk into the classroom and greet us with a grand “Buenos dias!” all in unison

Packing for a motorcycle trip takes a lot of planning. Especially in a country like Ecuador, where we ride in several climatic zones that can change throughout the day. Temperatures can range from 100 degrees on the coast to the low 30's in the higher elevations. On our bikes, we need to carry different layers of clothing needed for sudden change in weather or altitude. In addition., we need to carry tools and supplies in case of an emergency. It all needs to pack neatly into a saddlebag or hard pannier and be carried on our bikes.  Knowing what to pack in advance is critical for a smooth trip.

Pack for a Purpose lets our customrers know exactly what is most needed by the schools and communities that we visit so that we can make the most of the precious cargo space on the bikes. We carry several pounds of school supplies on each of our tours.  Delivering soccer balls, flash cards, educational games, pencils, crayons and paints to the kids directly. It gives us a chance to bring to life the Pack for a  Purpose motto: “Small Space.  Big Impact”
