  2. In June 2012, "Welcome to the Anthropocene"—a film about the state of the planet—opened the UN's Rio+20 summit on sustainable development. The summit was the largest UN meeting to date.

A 3-minute journey through the last 250 years of our history, from the start of the Industrial Revolution to the Rio+20 Summit. The film charts the growth of humanity into a global force on an equivalent scale to major geological processes.

  3. Chris Watson’s Whispering in the Leaves is an extraordinary sound installation, using recordings and natural history broadcast to transport us to the far-flung, dense rainforests of South and Central America. Throughout Kew Gardens’ Summer festival, the Palm House will be diffused with the dawn and dusk choruses of the myriad of creatures native to these lush tropical landscapes.

A number of events are planned to take place throughout the Summer season, from special performances and workshops led by Chris, to talks with ecological luminaries and artist-led monthly tours around the installation.
