1. As part of the Media Mob's 12 week training with trainer Shayne Johnson, their task was to interview each other on their likes and dislikes, and where they see themselves in five years. This task focusses on audio techniques, including radio mics, audio monitoring and recording, as well as interviewing techniques. This video highlights the progression of the Media Mob, both in their technical ability and personal growth.

  2. Barkly Regional Arts presents- Breath Away; an original song written by Winanjjikari Music Centre employee, Marcus Finlay. This song was part of a collection of songs that Marcus mastered and Produced himself at Winanjjikari Music Centre.
    This film clip was filmed and edited together by our youth media team- Media Mob and trainer Shayne Johnson. As part of the Media Mob's 12 week training, their task was to select a song by one of our local musicians, break it down, storyboard it, organise actors and create a filming schedule. They spent three days filming all the parts and then headed to their edit suite to cut it together. This film clip is another example of how the arts programs within Barkly Regional Arts collaborate together to develop their arts practice and to create products that showcase the excellent work happening in the Barkly Region.

  3. As part of Barkly Regional Arts youth Media Mob training program, the team were learning about stop motion techniques. Through a two-hour exercise this short clip is a fun demonstration of what they learnt.
    Media Mob is a youth based media training program engaging local youth in Tennant Creek to provide skills in all aspects of media. This training will open up career pathways for these youth to gain employment in media in their own community and represent their community on a larger scale. Barkly Regional Arts and Julalikari Council Aboriginal Corporation are proud to announce their new venture- ‘Media Mob’. Five Tennant Creek youths were selected after a week of interviews, to undertake thirteen weeks of Media Training. Hayden Fitz-Slade, Kelisha Green, Russell Habas, Shaun Bahr-Kelly and Jackson Dawson will work with Barkly Art’s Media Mob trainer; Shayne Teece-Johnson – gaining practical skills and capturing events in the Barkly Region.

Barkly Regional Arts has the experience, network and resources to train this amazing group in Digital Media. This training is unaccredited but what we offer is professional artists in the industry to be training the Media Mob. Barkly Regional Arts can not only offer training but also projects and events in which this Training can be practically explored, utilized and demonstrated.
