Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger [do not exasperate them to the point of resentment with demands that are trivial or unreasonable or humiliating or abusive; nor by showing favoritism or indifference to any of them] but bring them up [tenderly, with lovingkindness] in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. What about those who grew up without a father present in the home, or the father they had was emotionally absent? How about those who were not able to reconnect with their father before he died? How about the fathers who were not present for their children then; but desire to make things right now.
