A short fictional drama produced at Bournemouth University in the second year of my BA (Hons) Television Production degree - the brief was for the group to produce a film of any description (it could be a drama or documentary or music promo etc) of duration no more than 20 minutes. We decided on a gritty drama.
I was the camera operator for this project. I also assisted with pre-production.
The film is an anti-racist film about skinheads in 1982, aiming to dispel the negative stereotypes of skinhead culture and the subsequent creation of Skinheads Against Racial Prejudice (SHARP).
The group are supporters of Hope Not Hate - hopenothate.org.uk/
Culled & re-edited footage from the 1975 Melbourne Concert for Bangladesh.
Footage features the ritualistic dance moves belonging to a Melbourne gang subculture called "Sharpies". A mix of imported British Skin-head culture mashed with Aussie working class boganism.
