This is a small animation i did as an exercise to experiment and explore all the graphical possibilities of representing the idea of the SPHERE, always thinking in searching Gestalt and form. Its all done in 3d, but i was more interested in the graphical interest, flatten the surfaces, and only two colors, why more. The most difficult was to achieve the transitions between the different type of representation of the sphere, the morphing and metamorphosing.
For the description of the project, all these frames plus the frames from the scenes that weren't included, visit - behance.net/gallery/Spherikal/3565597
It was all done in Cinema 4d R13, all with the Mograph module. Compositing and post in After Effects

3D animation created with Adobe After Effects CS6 and Newton.
I modeled the Lego in AE CS6. I then created the 2D physics simulation in Newton and parented the 3D blocks to the 2D sim layers.
The glossy reflections and Fresnel effect help the realism, as does my choice to use no "specular" settings, but instead create reflections using white cards. Rendering was done in linear-light at 32bpc, and all the motion blur and depth-of-field comes from the After Effects ray tracer.# vimeo.com/40696968 Uploaded 24.7K Plays 103 Likes 13 Comments
In late 2012 I joined forces with Cantina Creative to help deliver over 100 shots for IRON MAN 3.
Marvel tasked us with designing all the elaborate 3D head-up displays (HUDs) – a virtual graphical interface that Iron Man sees from within the helmet environment of his armored suits that communicate essential data and statistics ranging from his physical condition to weapon and navigational diagnostics – While putting strong emphasis on the new ultra-high-tech Mark 42 suit, we also delivered upgraded HUDs to match the new suits seen in the film. It was great fun.
All of the 3D elements, including a miniature version of the suit and the holographic helmet, were generated and rendered from CINEMA 4D. These graphics had true 3D depth, which heightened the stereo viewing experience as well as the interactive light qualities that are both photo-real and immersive.
This is a process montage that was created to give some insight into the development and design thinking stages of the work I was specifically involved with on the film.
