This is part two of the four part screen cast covering the process of building a simple Rails CRUD application without using scaffolding as the base. In part two we look at generating the controller, adding our actions, creating the default view template, action views as well as make our first database call and display the results.
We will also look at some simple flow control and how to loop over an object array.
In this first part, of a series of screen casts, I will be looking at setting up a new Rails project in Aptana RadRails, generating your first model, using a migration file to create a database table, configuring your database and using Rake to build all of the above.

The screencast does not explain installation. Take a look at http://wiki.github.com/augustl/live-validations for installation instructions.
I should mention that in this screencast, I use the jQuery Validations adapter (there are adapters for many different live validation libraries). The output varies from adapter to adapter, so if you use e.g. the livevalidation.com adapter, it obviously won't look and feel _exactly_ like this screencast, because of differences between the validation libraries.
