NAVFAC senior executives and interns met in San Francisco, Calif., June 16-17 to discuss intern’s roles, contributions and opportunities during the 2009 NAVFAC Intern Conference. More than 300 interns and Senior NAVFAC leaders discussed everything from the Navy’s Maritime Strategy to individual intern responsibilities.
The NAVFAC intern program offers recent college graduates, as well as professionals changing careers, an accelerated path to career advancement. Interns begin in entry-level positions and progress to management positions after completing two or three year management-training programs. While in the program, interns have the opportunity to complete their master’s degrees, receive on-the-job and vocational training, and experience diverse and challenging rotational assignments.
