Fishing along the Bribie Island coast for small tuna species, using the DPI vessel "Makira".
In this trip we caught 3 Watson's leaping bonitos (Cybiosarda elegans) and 2 mac tuna (E. affinis).
The fish are held in Tuna tubes while on the boat and fresh oxygenated ocean water is pumped through the tubes setup.
The fish are transported in the tubes to a trailer with fresh oxygenated water and driven to the 100 ton tank in BIRC.
In total, the fish spend approx. 1 hour in the tubes and less than 5 minutes without recirculating water.
