    Online Therapy for PTSD - Talk to a Therapist Online for Help with PTSD

    PTSD is a complex disorder involving many different emotions such as anxiety, depression, guilt and shame, anger and addictions.
    Fundamentally, victims of PTSD have a very hard time adjusting to intensely traumatic experiences. A trauma is simply a form of sensory-emotional overload that the brain is unable to process and assimilate. The intense memory imprint and associated emotions become "stuck", literally frozen in time, creating flash-backs and endlessly recurring intrusive thoughts and emotional reactions.

    There are many sources of PTSD. Experience of war is well documented, but trauma is also an occupational hazard for emergency responders, fire officers, police officers and medical response personnel. Medical Doctors can also experience PTSD as they try to cope with the trauma of dispensing a terminal diagnosis to a patient.

    One unrecognized source of PTSD is from the very process of giving birth itself. Again, the intense sensory overload accompanied by very intense emotions can create a traumatic image that does not resolve by itself.

    The other biggest source of PTSD trauma is from abusive parents and family members. The child, by its very nature, is least able to process intense sensory/emotional experiences, and these can become suppressed as unresolved core emotions that will arise in adult life creating anxiety, panic attacks and depression.

    Whatever the source, these unresolved core emotions need resolution and this is the whole focus of Mindfulness Therapy which I provide via Skype. This is often a good choice for people who might not feel comfortable sharing their experiences in front of a group or even to a therapist in-person.

    The style of therapy that I offer is called Mindfulness Therapy, which is a
    very exciting, very unique, alternative approach to the more traditional
    talk therapies that you're probably familiar with. The whole focus of
    Mindfulness Therapy is to help you establish the right kind of relationship
    with your emotions so that you don't become overwhelmed by them. Once you
    establish a Mindfulness relationship with your emotions, then it's possible
    to start to look at the structure of those emotions and find out how they
    work. This often involves imagery.

    For example, when a person feels overwhelmed by an emotion, right there, we
    have a clue in that language as to how they see that emotion internally. If
    they say, "I feel overwhelmed. It's getting on top of me," chances are they
    literally see that emotion inside as being above them, at a higher position
    to them. They see themselves as a small person with this looming emotion
    above them. Seeing this kind of structure really is very, very helpful
    because when you see it, then you can begin to change it. Once you change
    the structure of the emotion, the emotion itself changes.

    This is one of the many of the unique principles behind Mindfulness
