Greg Hung, owner of ChicVoyage, envisioned a video that would inspire locals and travelers to discover unique experiences available in Vancouver and Whistler during the summer. The video was commissioned originally to be used as a promotional video for tours to Vancouver.
ChicVoyage partnered with Blue Pencil, friends, and family to film what could be a sample high end tour to Vancouver and Whistler. Chicvoyage wants to focus on must see attractions in each city, local culture, nightlife, relaxation and adventure.
Greg Hung was looking for a local production company that would provide a signature style that was not a typical corporate video or a tourism video. He knew he found the right talent when he discovered Blue Pencil Productions.
The events of the weekend resembled what could be a sample high end weekend tour in Vancouver and Whistler. Greg wanted the tour to be unique and original. The Belvedere room, champagne sabering, and the Araxi outdoor dinner were some examples of that thinking. It was one of the busier weekends at Whistler as the Grand Fondo bike race event from Vancouver to Whistler also took place. The event also made the process of getting film permits for some business partners very difficult to receive. We thank our business partners for coming through in the end. Greg knew that we had some amazing footage once the 4 day tour and shoot were completed.
During post production there was some debate of whether to incorporate narration footage from Meena Mann from FMA Entertainment Weekly or leave it as a video with imagery and music with the latter making the final cut. Next the music selection was key. Ian Pooley's "better life" was one of those inspiring tracks that stuck in Greg's mind from the time that Vancouver's 95.3 FM radio station pre 2010.
In this video you will see the a progression from Vancouver's airport through to some popular areas with tourists and locals such as Granville Island, Robson, and the Yaletown area. Greg is a seawall lover and also wanted to share that unique subculture during the summer. We are introduced to some of the group when they take a float plane ride to Whistler from Coal Harbour. At Whistler you will see band 54-40 performing at the Whistler Olympic plaza followed by some nightlife at the Belvedere room and champagne sabering. We showcased a mixture of outdoor relaxation, adventure and dining with the Peak 2 Peak, zipline, and the Scandinave spa, and Araxi outdoor dinner at Pemberton. The Pemberton mountain backdrop at the outdoor dinner that day was incredible. You'll see this during the time lapse to end the video.
Vancouver is truly a beautiful city to live and play in during the summer. People often associate Whistler as a ski resort, but after seeing this video people should see that is worth to visit during summer as well. ChicVoyage Productions and Greg are very happy with the finished production. So happy and inspired that Greg decided to create a division in ChicVoyage dedicated to creating more of these videos around the world with Chicvoyage Productions.
