1. My Start asked a small group of refugee and Turkana students to make a short film about a story.
The refugee students are from many different neighbouring countries and have been forced to migrate from their home territories and live at the camp.
The Turkana students are from the Turkana tribe and 'host community' - i.e the local area to where the camp is situated in North West Kenya.
The story told on film could either be their own or from someone they knew.
As you watch these films you will notice the personal insight these students captured into the different communities in and around the camp.
All films were shot, edited and subtitled by the students themselves. After a one week workshop learning the basic skills of filmmaking and story telling they spent 2 days researching their stories and 2 days filming and editing.

    Questions to ask:
    Where is the boy from?
Why did he become a refugee?
What did you learn from this film and the insight it shows?
Would a foreign film maker have been able to have told the same story?
    If not, why?
What was the beginning, middle and end of each story told?
What was the moral of the story?
How does this story make you feel?
Have you heard of anyone who has had a similar experience? If so, who and what happened?
If not, why is this such a different story to hear?
