This may have been a hanglider launch in ages past, but as far as I know I discovered it for paragliding. The flight I was hoping for all came together this bright fall morning, launching high above the clouds, and following through into the bright fall colors amidst rock formations.
Biff Romulus and Richard the Lion heart braved searing temperatures, ubiquitous black flies and did I mention the 1400 meter climb to fly from Golden Ears summit on Thursday. It took 6 hours of slogging up what has to be the longest creek bed hike in BC as well as lots of snow and some mud. We landed on the Pitt Lake dike at approximately 5 pm with smiles on our faces and black flies in our teeth
A wonderful little video made by one of my students for a school project. She wanted to learn about paragliding and asked me to sponsor her project. Eventually, it seemed that best way for her to learn about the sport would be to step off into the air with her!
