1. Learn how to do a detailed install of Ubuntu Linux. Does not matter if you are installing this to your computer directly or in a virtual machine. Its the same process either way. Note if you are installing Ubuntu directly to your computer you will need to turn the downloaded iso off on a CD/DVD/BlueRay Disc and then boot the computer up from that disc. You may need to tweak your BIOS options to boot from the CD Rom if it does not do so by default. Instead of editing your BIOS you could also hit your boot manager key when the computer first comes up and select the CD Rom drive as your boot device.
