  5. This is a piece with a subtle interpretation of the reality of women's lives.
After the opening, the first scene transitions into a depiction of the relation between women and their children which in many instances is a joyful, loving happening though child rearing is usually expected of women by society without question.
The following scene is a little darker, illustrating the trap of poverty and abuse many women around the world can and do experience...often directly relating to the previous scene of having children.
Out of that scene you see the woman rise and stand up for herself as she begins to push back the oppression placed against a backdrop of protestors who can represent any one of a multitude of different issues that women have fought for such as voting rights, rights to make the decisions about their own bodies, clergy rights, equal pay, the right to protest, to do business and to hold office, etc., all of which can bring women out of the poverty and abuse so often saddled on them because they have two X chromosomes.
The final scene has the woman ascending and spreading her "wings" in confidence as many modern women have done and how even more women are striving to do or simply dream of being able to do. In back of her is a large, old , gnarly, burled tree which is undoubtedly full of character born from experience and weather probably containing a most beautiful grain. It's a depiction of the growth on the inside which life and it's experiences bestows on us even if the outer shell seems to remain un-revealingly pristine.

Note: As a man I don't claim to really know what it's like to go through life as a woman but I pay attention to these issues in the world and I have learned much from the women who have been a part of my own life.
I hope they find this to be an acceptable tribute.
