All The World is Our Adventure!

  1. The sun finally came out on Sunday so Barbara and I decided to do something outdoors… we'd heard about the annual bird migrations through the Sacramento Valley and picked a wildlife preserve about an hour from us just west of Gridley, California. We made it just in time for a guided tour.
Over 160 species of birds… some from as far away as Russia..
We enjoyed a picnic and then decided to do the 3 mile hike and take some pictures and video clips along the way with the Panasonic Lumix LX3. (I'll upload the high def version later)

  2. Barbara showed me her photo of our yard with autumn leaves and then told me to "quick...go outside and take some pictures…its so pretty" I took about 10 minutes of video then chopped it down to 1 1/2 min. and Barbara quickly wrote some haiku to go with the scenes… Our first attempt at collaboration unless you count our 3 children. It took more time to upload than to make. (the movie…not the children):) Music "Hey Nath" by Ravi Shankar from Prashanti… Leica d-lux edited with Apple iMovie.

  3. The Gladding McBean Clay Factory in Lincoln, CA. since 1875, makes clay sewer pipe, garden pottery, clay chimneys tops, caps, Piazza floor tile, roofing tiles and ornamental Terra Cotta for building facades. Its open for tours during the nearby annual "Feats of Clay" festival. We joined a tour with about a dozen other people which lasted about an hour. This short slideshow video takes about 3 minutes. I used a small compact Leica D-Lux2

  4. This was our first ever Bluegrass Festival, (event, concert, whatever...) for both Barbara and myself. Of course we thought we knew what "bluegrass" music was... but neither of us could name a bluegrass band or remember a song. Invited to attend by high school classmate Rick Cornish (event organizer) and high school teammate Brooks Judd we went and enjoyed a fabulous day. We both loved the fancy fiddling and guitar/banjo pickin' and two/three part vocal harmonies. Its a wonderful part of American/Folk Art that is truly grass root authentic. The photos were put together with two of my favorite songs from that day. "A Little Bit o'this and A Little bit o'that" Junior Sisk and Ramblers Choice… then Hard Workin' Pilgrim" by the Bluegrass Brothers. Photos & vid with a compact Leica D-LUX 2 Camera

  5. June 2007, another excellent adventure for Jim and Lupe. This time we explored the middle/southern end of the Eastern Sierras. Bridgeport, Mammoth, Bishop, Big Pine, Independence and Lone Pine. We camped in tents and cabins for about a week. We really like the Little Lakes Valley area for camping and pie. The Buttermilk Country near Bishop and the Alabama Hills near Lone Pine are both amazing rock formations. This shortened four minute slideshow give a brief look at the area. It's also my first try using the iMac, with a "tongue in cheek" approach. Music "Night in Marrakesh" by Adam Del Monte and Omar Faruk Tekbilek. Jim took most of the really cool pictures(Nikon D200) and I put the slideshow (Leica D-lux2) together.
