1. Mariano Conde flamenco guitar EF 5 Blanca new 2012

During one of our many discussion with Mariano Conde, the luthier from the former Conde Hermanos workshop, we argued about the fact that affordable, great, handmade flamenco guitars are becoming more and more difficult to find in Spain. This new Conde EF 4 model, handmade by Mariano Conde in Madrid Spain, still is one of those remarkable flamenco guitars at a very interesting price. To obtain this affordable price, Mariano needed to decrease the number of hours spend on making this EF 4. Although no compromises were made in the quality of the superb craftsmanship of Mariano, he uses a very simple but still elegant decoration, more affordable but good quality machines and a very thin easy to apply lacquer. All this resulted in an excellent flamenco guitar at a very high price-quality ratio. The expressive trebles and beautiful deep basses characterize this very affordable flamenco guitar being a full-blooded flamenco guitar with a very true flamenco sound. We are very pleased that Mariano Conde enables us to offer you this handmade flamenco guitar for such an admirable price.

Mariano Conde is one of the last Spanish luthiers from the famous Conde Hermanos dynasty, founded by Domingo Esteso in 1915 at the famous address of Gravina 7 in Madrid. Famous Flamenco guitarists such as Paco de Lucia, Manolo de Huelva, Nino Ricardo, Sabicas, Esteban de Sanlucar, Oscar Herrero, Jose Manuel Canizares, Rafael Riqueni, Enrique de Melchor and other style guitarists such as Al Di Meola, Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, John Williams, Lenny Kravitz, David Byrne, Toninho Horta... have played or still play the worldwide known guitars of Conde Hermanos. Since the summer of 2010 Mariano Conde opened his new workshop in Madrid dedicating all his time and effort to artisan flamenco guitar making.

José Rodríguez Peña was born in Andujar in 1958. He started as a luthier in 1972, influenced by the gretatmaestros of Cordoba, Miguel Rodriguez and Manuel Reyes, two of the best "Guitarreros" of Cordoba and beyond. Even not having a direct family relationship with the late Miguel Rodriguez, he nevertheless maintains a friendly relationship with the family of Miguel Rodriguez, which gives him the unique privilege to use the fabulous, almost mythical stock of very old aged wood from Rodriguez family in Cordoba. José Rodríguez Peña established his workshop in Cordoba, a few steps from the workshop of Manuel Reyes, they both meet frequently to exchange experiences providing José a great opportunity to perfect his work as a luthier. The outstanding quality of José his flamenco guitars also derive from his meticulous care, he built his guitars completely by hand, everything is done in the workshop, also applying shellac, his guitars reflects a rare excellent value for its price. Flamenco guitar maestros such as Pepe de Lucia, Paco de Lucia, Alejandro Sanz, Los Panchos, Paco Serrano, Miguel Barbera and many others all play José Rodríguez Peña's guitars. In 2007 José Rodríguez Peña built a flamenco guitar specifically for Vicente Amigo. Jose Rodriguez has participated in various expositions such as the Santiago Ubeda Hospital, in the Flamenco World Fair, etc. His guitars are exibited in the Andalucia de Flamenco de Jerez foundation as well as in particular collections. The National contest for classical guitar in Coria Del Rio rewarded one of his guitars as first prize.

Jose Rodriguez and Manuel Reyes are currently the best luthiers from Cordoba. This new José Rodriguez is extremely light and subsequently she has a very strong sound with deep, rich basses that are very well balanced with those typical Cordoba lyrical sweet singing trebles. The cypress that José Rodriguez used for the back and the sides of this blanca is of a very rare, unseen and remarkable quality, about 70 years old, taken from the stock of very old aged woods from his highly respected colleague, the late Miguel Rodriguez (1888-1975). Playability is very easy due to the comfortable neck shape…she simply is one of the best sounding flamenco guitars we have had in our hands....it is a real pleasure to present you with this new flamenco guitar of José Rodriguez.
