This video goes over a little tip to use incident angle gradient masks (And its invert) for bump and displacement channels. This provides a balanced way to provide silhouette displacement for the edges while using bump for the front facing polygons. Its a neat little trick to shave render time for surfaces that are not the focus of the scene and are in the background providing the user with the best of both worlds at a fraction of the render time.
