We take an in-depth look at the works and documents exhibited in Vatican Splendors, a journey through Faith and Art. Works by such artist as Giotto, Bernini and Michelangelo are on exhibit. Many of the objects have never been on public display or previously left the Vatican. Brother Charles Hilken, medieval historian, takes us back to the time of St. Peter’s tomb, which the Vatican is built upon. He explains how the art was maintain and preserved during those times, through the renaissance period to present day. The Pieta`, one of Michelangelo’s greatest achievements is highlighted.
Meet Paloma and Lee. They are art therapist working with kids with special needs. We explore their talents as they help these children on the spectrum achieve a better self awareness.
Palma’s special talent is music. Through her inspiration she helps promote communication and attention span to kids who were once unable to speak; now they sing. Lee is an artist. Her special talent is working with paint. One of her students, a seven year old boy named Benji, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy, is able to create large paintings. He directs Lee’s hands to apply the paint to the canvas. He is very passionate about his work and with Lee’s help he is able to express the artist in him that had once been blocked do to his affliction.
