1. Call after call the fishermen were reporting that the sea was boiling… finally the bait balls had arrived! This situation called for an improvised weekend trip to the Baja peninsula. The Pelagic crew immediately organized flights, hotel, and transportation and was off to yet another pelagic adventure.

  2. The Pelagic Life crew went in search of bait balls with a particular intension in mind. Finding a static bait ball in blue water in order to closely capture sail fish eating individual sardines. Capturing the exact moment in which the sailfish hit the sardines and then swallow them has never been easy. Fortunately the conditions on this calm day out in the blue made it ideal to try such an endeavor.

  3. Sailfish Drama was captured at Isla Mujeres, Mexico in February 2010. The footage was captured with a RED One camera, using a Tokina 10-17mm lens, in a Deep RED Gates housing. The video was down-sampled to 720 24p from the original 4K RED files. The music was composed by Alan Williams for the IMAX feature, Island of the Sharks, which I directed in 1998.
