A quick addition to the compilation of running and music.... very rough and quickly cut... video depicts Stan Cottrell running in remote areas of Ethiopia in June 2013 with the #GGFR #GlobalRun amidst mountains and plains, nature and extreme poverty. 40% of Ethiopia's population is in deep poverty due to famine, wars, health issues... but Peace and Green Africa Initiative (PGAI) and Bio Economy Africa have agricultural breakthroughs to feed the people throughout Africa, and Stan will not be one of their representatives. About 85% of the adult male working population of Ethiopia is comprised of farmers. You can see their need as Stan runs. .... Support the Run: give.mobi/run .... Note that Stan Cottrell is running with injured leg - deep puncture wound and gash, with stitches, from piercing by a sharp concrete the night before the run started... and yet Stan still ran strong!
Stan Cottrell, Jerry Spencer, Mickey Grant, Zebider Zewdie and Tekeste Girma spent over an hour with the President of Ethiopia, Girma Weidegorgis in his private residence during Stan's Ethiopia Friendship Run June 2013. The demonstrated power of Cottrell's historic Friendship Runs reached across cultural divides for friendship building, outreach to orphans and others, running and presenting awards for the 5K race, addressing audiences of thousands in stadiums, visiting village huts.
It also included filming to share the plight, poverty yet HOPE with the world, to encourage orphan donations, and to show the rich beauty of the country. This outreach project consumed two jam-packed weeks with the full support of the government, sports ministries, local mayors, Ethiopian media, Evangelical churches, key business and civic leaders, and many others.
Ethiopia presented a glimpse of what is to come with Stan Cottrell and Friendship Sports' "Great Global Friendship Run" to benefit the orphans of the world.
Facebook.com/TGGFR - As Ethiopians celebrate in Hawassa with Stan Cottrell the official launch of The Great Global Friendship Run June 8, 2013, here’s a scene that speaks volumes… the visual embodiment of the spirit of the friendship runs… For as we play together, it breaks down walls, builds those bonds, secures images of joy and laughter and heart and oneness in our minds and hearts forever… For this moment in time, we are all children together playing, dancing, joyful… of one heart, one mind, one spirit…
Stan Cottrell recounts: “My leg was bleeding from the deep puncture wound and gash, and my hip was screaming because of the deep muscle bruises from falling in that dark hole upon arrival… but it didn’t matter… I reckon, when The Spirit gets ahold... you operate in a whole different dimension. This was fun... a freedom of the soul.. .and we were all, for these moments in time... one heart... one family... celebrating the tie that has bound us all together. In these moments, there was no such thing as social stratification, class labeling, or dimensions which divide... All joy... a place of true liberation. It's there for all... only let the child within you to come out and play... and feel God's pleasure!”
