In this episode, celebrity vocal coach Kevin Richards explains why training extreme high singing notes strengthens your upper mix and lower head voice vocal ranges.

The concept is simple - by training extreme high notes in light head resonance the voice has to "mix" the lower notes in a more stable focusing strength. The notes below become support notes. This helps strengthen and stabilize the lower and upper mixed voices. By having to sing "through" the lower notes into super head range, those lower notes have to stabilize the "blend" upward into the head voice resonance.

  4. Singing songs. Isn't that why we train our voices in the first place? Then why does every "singing" program leave out this very important step?

Hi, I'm Kevin Richards and welcome to Zen Singing. Every vocal program I've ever come across addresses the issue of training your voice, but they never show you how to take what you're training and apply it to actually singing songs.

The idea behind creating Zen Singing was to target all the things that occur when singing songs - and to train your voice for that purpose. You're not going to spend weeks and months training with vocal exercises you'll never use when singing songs. A lot of vocal courses basically just have end up just being really good at doing the program, and you're left in the dark about how to apply all of that to singing songs. The idea behind creating Zen sing was to get you singing songs - as quickly as possible. And THAT IS why we train our voices in the first place.

The motto we have at Zen Singing is "Free Your Mind and the Voice Will Follow - for that - is the Zen Way."

Modern singers of Rock, Pop and Metal music deserve more than teachers who sing Jazz or Cabaret. They need someone who understands the demands of the modern singer... and that's what you get. No bull - just results.

Don't trust your singing voice to anyone else. Your music is worth much more than that.
