Taekwondo Cymru was established by Master Porl Stone in 1992. The association of Welsh clubs quickly became the most frontline and leading force practising and participating in the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) style sport taekwondo in Wales.

Before long, the association began to build a strong repetition on the sport circuit producing Welsh, British and European medallists - including a number of AAU Junior Olympic medals along the way . Many of today’s British team members, World Champions and Olympians have at one point in their careers been coached and trained through one or more of our Welsh training camps under Master Stone.

Over the last 10 years we have reinforced our strong connections with British Taekwondo
who are members of WTF, British Olympic Association (BOA), European Taekwondo (ETU) and recognised by UK Sport which is the governing agency for High Performance Sport.
British Taekwondo is responsible for all aspects of WTF/Olympic style taekwondo in the UK.
This includes everything that is encompassed and practised through the Martial Art of
Taekwondo, as well as selecting Great Britain national teams to compete at the European and World Championships, and of course the Olympic Games.
There has never been a better time for Welsh students and Welsh Taekwondo clubs to start practicing the WTF form of Taekwondo. With Welsh youngster, Jade Jones, wining the first British Taekwondo gold medal in London 2012, now is the optimum time to take this challenege. Your first step to being a part of this exciting olympic sport could not be simpler.
