In order to ensure absolute victory in our spiritual war, we need to draw upon every aspect of the armaments that God has provided us with. As the Apostle Paul says in Ephesians, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age...” In this message, Pastor Doug teaches us how the “armor of God” is our key to victory for today and the ages to come.
One of the tactics Satan uses to keep us on defense is to attack us with guilt, condemnation, and shame. When we feel unworthy, we’re not prepared to move ahead and serve God without fear. Pastor Doug explains that we can overcome Satan’s accusations and our own feelings of failure by claiming God’s promise: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).
At some point in our inner war, we need to be prepared to switch from defense to offense. In this follow up message to Part 4, Pastor Doug outlines how we can go after Satan when he attacks our thoughts and spirits with his fiery darts. By reading and memorizing God’s Word, learning what it means, and then walking in that light, we can be prepared to do battle at any time, using the most powerful spiritual weapon available - God’s Word.
