After over 10 years absence, James F. Robinson’s Indie romance STILL BREATHING returns with digital rentals and downloads from a newly-restored 4K restoration.
The film follows artist and street performer Fletcher (Brendan Fraser), who thinks con-artist Roz (Joanna Going) is the woman he’s seen in a vision – the same type of vision that led his forefathers to the loves of their lives. What Fletcher doesn’t know is Roz is having visions of her own of Fletcher... as her next victim.
Called, “Impossibly wonderful” by the New York Times and “Absorbing and radiant” by the Los Angeles Daily News, STILL BREATHING disappeared in a tangle of studio restructuring in the early 2000’s.
The lyrical romance won ardent fans after its brief theatrical release in 1998, and in subsequent cable TV showings. In today’s digital media universe, consumers expect every film is available digitally somewhere. STILL BREATHING became suddenly unavailable as a DVD rental on Netflix in the early 2000’s. It turns out subscribers had stolen all the DVDs because it was out- of-print, with copies were selling on eBay for over $100. Due to rights restrictions, no digital versions were available in the US and Canada until rights contracts expired recently. The film’s admirers have been hard-pressed to find the film, except for blurry, pirated YouTube videos and internationally-produced DVDs.
The film was the last for Oscar®-winner Celeste Holm and features Lou Rawls, Ann Magnuson, Toby Huss, Paolo Seganti and Angus Macfadyen. Robinson wrote and directed. The film was executive produced by Joyce Schweickert, who spearheaded the restoration.
The new HD version of Robinson’s STILL BREATHING is available now on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play (YouTube), FandangoNow, Playstation and Vudu (Walmart) on September 15th, 2017. The 4K UHD (Ultra High Definition) version will also be available on Playstation, FandangoNOW and Google Play, and sometime in the future on Amazon, Vudu and iTunes. The original motion picture soundtrack by Paul Mills has also been released on iTunes and Amazon and on streaming platforms like Spotify, iHeart Radio and Pandora.
