Research about the Av. Meridiana and its neighbourhood & proposing a "Smartblock - System" in order to connect both sides of the street related to events taking place in each neighbourhood. On the other side implementing events on the street itself to increase the quality of live and change its function according to the time and use it in a more effecient way in the future.

SmartBlock: Smart Public Corridor
SmartBlock is a social platform proposed by Group Meridiana to transform the cur- rent Avenue Meridiana to an interactive hybridized social public corridor that will eventually become the iconic street for the city of Barcelona.
The objective of this project was to explore all the possible opportunities to en- hance the spatial and mobil experience of Avenue Meridiana by providing solu- tions that complements the SmartCity initiative. An intensive research and analysis took place to understand the existing condition of the street that touched on mul- tiple attributes ranging from historical facts, current infrastructure, traffic, events and social interaction of the street and its surrounding neighbourhoods. The study led to findings that questioned the lack of social interaction due to the physical and functional characteristics of the street which mainly serves the purpose of connect- ing the northern outskirts to the center of the city.
SmartBlock is targeted to three main users at different levels that will contribute
to the exchange of information on the platform which will result in transforming the street. The targeted users of SmartBlock are; the general public (event go- ers), private business (event creators), and the municipality (traffic control). In addition, SmartBlock events are to be co- funded by its users and the municipality, moreover, it enhances the cyber experience by linking the user to the RideShare interface. RideShare is a social network, a pool of individual private drivers participating in SmartBlock events and able to spare the extra time to offer cost and time efficient rides to event go-ers.

Can a pavilion inflate its skin and change its configurations according to the event? Can a pavilion be desmountable and so foldable to fit in a hand luggage? Can an exhibition space be adaptable descend from a ceiling and become a sensorial personal experience? The aim of the seminar, leaded by Josep Miàs and Silvia Brandi, is to investigate the extreme possibilities of structures which make them possible. The Jungle creates a system for cleaning the air on our site, which could be applied to others around Barcelona or the world.
A cloud problem requires a cloud solution. The jungle senses the cloud of pollution from external sources before reacting, creat- ing a cloud on site which captures pollution. This cloud is then manipulated to rain on site through over seeding, removing the pollution from the air.
To create a self sufficient system energy is needed. Algae takes c02 and waste water from the Tersa power station creating bio fuel to power the cloud. With this two pollution sources are fil- tered whilst simultaneously providing energy. The algae system becomes economically viable due to the proximity of co2 and waste water to create bio fuel competitive with traditional fuels.
Through the combination of these two systems, the jungle pro- vides a viable solution to urban air quality on our site and a model applicable to other locations.
