1. In this week’s podcast, Dana Avant looks at Proverbs 31:10-12, and explains how these verses perscribe a pattern for life, even for women in the 21st century.

The attributes described in Proverbs 31 portray more than just a mere wife. They apply to women who live out many diverse roles in today’s society: business women, students, stay at home moms, single, married, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, role models, coaches… a generally steady, organized, industrious and God-fearing woman.

The key is a life pattern that is drawn to God throughout every day.

  2. In this video, Gary Avant, host of the To the Churches podcast, explains that the Church is a living, breathing, very large group of true Christians throughout the world AND it is a group of Christians who gather to fellowship, worship and study together. It is NOT buildings nor weak, disunified, man-made organizations. Our call, as the Church – Christ’s bride, in fact – is to be unified and healthy. This calling can only be fulfilled through Jesus Christ. And, it is each one of us who are called to step up and become the Church as He intended.

  3. Proverbs 31:13 New International Version (NIV)
    She selects wool and flax
    and works with eager hands.

Is she making something for her business or her personal life? As I look at this verse, I think that perhaps both. I apply these verses to my life in being intentional and thoughtful in all I do; and work eagerly – with a smile – all the time. Personally, I approach my work around the house and service to my friends with the same attitude as I do my work at the office. I need to always remember that I am strong and God is with me. I need to be guided by God in my decisions both at home and at work.

  4. Our testimony – our personal story of God working in our lives – is important. God wants to use our testimony to preach the gospel and build His kingdom with every apologetic tool we have. Embrace this truth! Develop two versions of your testimony and get ready to use it. God will provide the opportunity to do so.

Jesus is Lord and protective owner of each true believer, collectively this is His beloved “Church”. To encourage His true followers, Jesus speaks frequently in the Bible about being calm (“…do not fret”), being focused (“…follow me”), having open ears to hear (“…for he/she who has ears to hear”), and seeking maturity in Him (“…become mature”).
The overall “Church” today is struggling. Christians are yearning for leadership, seeking robust and inspiring teaching and safe and encouraging environments in which to grow spiritually. Churches and Christians are increasingly challenged in our culture, seeing strife, persecution, and hostility growing literally every day. So how can we counteract the Church seemingly being weak, un-healthy, and dis-unified? How can we open our ears to clearly hear what Jesus is saying? How can we as Christians move from drinking spiritual one dimensional milk like a baby, to eating a spiritually hearty tasty feast like an adult? What is a mature (grown up) Christian, and how can we become mature?
To The Churches is designed to address these and other similar crucial issues facing Christians and The Church in these challenging times. It is “for he/she who has ears to hear!”
