My exploration of the northlands beyond the Golden Gate Bridge all started with a run in the Marin Headlands when I moved here 2 years ago. The love and excitement to explore only grew the further and further I went. Thirty miles northwest of San Francisco there is a place called Drakes Bay which has been long considered Sir Francis Drake's landing spot on the west coast of North America in 1579. Part of Point Reyes National Sea Shore, Drakes bay is also its own U.S National Historic Landmark. It follows that same long and windy road that, whilst beautiful, makes me so nauseas. Again, I'll drive please. I was on another excursion with a friend ready to capture the vast beauty of the Bay. We landed on Drakes Beach, I dare say, the same way Sir Francis Drake did. Sandy cliffs that looked like giant loaves of bread that were sliced by the Gods. Want a sand-wich? Haha, get it!? I was in a new world with an energy that I wasn't quite expecting and that energy is still with me today. There is more that the Point Reyes National Seashore has to tell me, I just haven't heard it all yet...
