A visual ode to Summer, Childhood and the American natural outdoors. Sparklers, campfires, a pond, children and dogs. Things held dear in the American memory, but fading for many families as the call of outdoor open spaces has gradually ceded to suburban living and the fear of environments that are not temperature controlled.
Unplugged, without planned activities, electronic devices, or the trappings of home, both the children and adults embrace the simple moments where a bit of fire and light become magic. Where a pond, with only mud, frogs and a kayak becomes a world unto itself.
Shot July 2014 on a friend's family farm in Vermont; previously dairy, now recreational.
Natural lighting only. Canon 60D, EF 50mm lens, Adobe Premiere Pro, Music from VideoBlocks
"The Wings of Freedom Tour" featured the WWII Vintage Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, Consolidated B-24 Liberator and North American P-51 Mustang, all of which are extremely rare these days to actually be in flying condition.
