'Body Stories' at Huddersfield Art Gallery (2013) is a dance, video and visual art installation created as a collaboration by Gerry Turvey (Artistic Director and Performer), June Gersten Roberts (Installation Video-maker), Roger Bygott (Visual Artist), Vanessa Grasse (Choreographic Direction) and Daniel Weaver ( Composer).
'Body Stories' maps dancer Gerry Turvey’s histories of injury, through the threading and weaving of the different art forms, acknowledging how physical trauma has created her body story.
The Body Stories project has been developed over a two year period in artist residencies at Huddersfield Art Gallery ( November 2013), The MillSpace at Leeds Industrial Museum (2012) and as part of the Space, Time, Tools, Advice scheme at IOU Theatre Space, Halifax, ( August 2013). Thanks to artists Hannah Leighton Boyce and Daliah Toure and Nicola Forshaw for their input into that process.
Thank You to our Funders: Arts Council England, Kirklees Council, IOU, Edgehill University
