In 2006 I was lucky to get a berth on a Fisheries Research Cruise in the eastern tropical Pacific, thanks to the Science Director, Lisa Ballance. Among other things that we indulged in, we chased Killer Whales to get skin biopsies for genetic fingerprinting. I took part in one such expedition and found it very exhilarating. At 20 knots on a bumpy ocean it is hard to keep the camera steady, but I managed to get several shots of successful crossbow 'kills'. The extraordinary skill of the hunters, Juan-Carlos and Ernesto, in hitting their targets at split-second notice with unerring accuracy, is well documented. Nice work!
