2011 was a huge year for me - I was flown to Mexico in June to coach Malaki UFC, I competed in the WFDF World Overall Flying Disc Championships in July in Fort Collins, Colorado, I competed in the Skyhoundz World Canine Disc Championships in September in Chattanooga, Tennessee and I was flown to Beijing, China in December to attempt a Guinness World Record. I'm excited for what 2012 has in store and I give you a preview in this video.
I also give you a bit of a tour of some of the discs I use when I practice and compete.
This video is in response to a fan question. A lot of players try to speed up the release of their throw by moving their arm and body faster but this usually makes them lose control of the throw. The key to speeding up the release of your throw is to work on your technique and make it as smooth as possible.
In this video, I talk about the basics of cutting and relate it to a quick and easy handler cutting drill.
As a handler, it's important to get use to cutting a few steps each time in order to get open for the disc. Too many handlers will just stand in place and not move their feet or their body and that makes it easy for the defender since the defender can just stand there and take away the throw.
