1. Trenton Inoue (Guardamar Studio 2014) embarks on the time lapse simulation study of the Guardamar Coastal Dunes. Embedded in this site are gestural interventions that interact with the spacial and temporal dimensions of the site. All good fun.

How does one document an experience? Can the designer continue to rely only on the still image? Taking the position that experience is the amalgamation of multiple sensory imputes as well as of memory which is the raw material of the story teller, the studio broke from the traditional idea of site analysis as a collection of stills, existing plans, and facts and rather we chose to explore the site as a sensory story told via sounds and the moving image. Thus the video becomes the vehicle for the telling of the story while simultaneously documenting the site as not a static element but as a very personal experience.

Here we present notable site stories by Architecture students enrolled in the 2013 UC Berkeley Summer Studio in Guardamar de Segura, Spain. The physical sites studied were las Salinas de Torrevieja where Toyo Ito's Relaxation Spa sits as a ruin; the hill and ruins of the Castillo de Guardamar, and the Parque de las Dunas (the Dunes Park) in Guardamar de Segura. All are important sites in the region with essential components existing in both time and space.

In addition included here are a few smaller video studies of the local event known as the Mercadillo as well as studies on light, shadow and water.
