Another day offshore of the Texas coast. Due to the thick sargassum weed on the water, trolling was not practical. I still managed a kingfish and a spanish mackerel, but I spent most of the time fishing for red snapper. It payed off!
Spring weather is tough to read, and weather windows for paddling offshore tend to be short. Jump when they open up, or you just might miss it! Friday at work I noticed a window, so when I got home I hurried to throw the gear together and got to the water. With the surf at 68 degrees, it was chilly but fun.
