  2. This year, for my school project, I decided to record and present one of my most memorable vacations. Walking a very small part of the stunning 850 km Camino de Santiago, meeting pilgrims and visiting Santiago de Compostela - was a winner for me. This is my story. I hope you like it. Thank you.

  3. This is the story of friends and family walking the Camino de Santiago - along with more than 270,000 people who will walk the Camino in 2016. This is the sixth year that the group have followed the 'ways' of the Camino and it is the first year trekking the stunning Portuguese route to Santiago (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

The five day trip covers 152km and starts in Porto in Northern Portugal and ends just over the Spanish border in the Galician town of O Porriño.

    Stage 1 - PORTO TO VILARINHO - 26KM
    Stage 2 - VILARINHO TO BARCELOS - 30KM
    Stage 3 - BARCELOS – PONTE DE LIMA - 34KM
    Stage 4 - PONTE DE LIMA - COSSOURADO - 28KM
    Stage 5 - COSSOURADO - TUI - O PORRIÑO - 34KM

The Portuguese Way has a long history which can be seen in many of the buildings and architecture along the route. The city of Porto and the University of Coimbra are great examples of this and are both listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This is the second most popular Camino however, it´s less crowded than the Camino Francès. According to statistics from the Pilgrims office in Santiago, over 16% of those receiving the Compostela certificate walk the Camino Português - it is the fastest growing in popularity.

Dedicated to memory of our absent friends and family.

*The Camino de Santiago is the name of any of the pilgrimage routes to the shrine of the apostle St. James the Great in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition has it that the remains of the saint are buried. Many take up this route as a form of spiritual path or retreat for their spiritual growth (by wikipedia)
