This is a short alumnus work for the 40th anniversary of the Institute for Computer Music and Electronic Media (ICEM) at the Folkwang University Essen, Germany in 2011.
I used no electronic synthesis or electronic transformation here - just my voice on several tracks.
„Formation aus Recombinase“ was produced by the German composer Christian Börsing in the year 2000. The sound material is generated with „ProteinMusic“ – a music application software by the composer (written in C++) which produces sound files after feeding it with DNA-sequence-data of protein coding genes. In that way operations of protein biosynthesis are mirrored by a musical algorithmic generator.
In this electronic music work only musical outputs of the enzyme Recombinase are used. They are arranged in various constellations and combinations – building up a complex „sounding formation“ of the genetic structure of Recombinase.
